Kamal Haasan On Box Office vs Quality

Kamal Haasan recently spoke about how success in cinema is measured today. At The Week Leadership Summit in Tamil Nadu he said that earlier, films were judged mainly on quality.

But now, success is decided by how much money a movie earns at the box office.

He compared it to an exam system. He said it does not matter how well he writes the exam, only the final marks count. In the same way people now look only at box office collections and not at the content or effort behind a film.

Kamal said he believes in excellence and meaningful art, not just money. For him, cinema should create impact and make people think.

On the work front, he is working on ‘KH237’ and is also backing Rajinikanth’s upcoming projects.
